XXIV ESRS Congress "Inequality and diversity in European rural areas"

The XXIV European Society for Rural Sociology Congress "Inequality and diversity in European rural areas" will take place in Chania, Greece, between 22 - 25 August 2011.
European rural areas are facing major changes in economic and social terms, mainly due to transformations in the role, meaning and place of agriculture. 
The ESRS Congress will address this issue by looking at the following themes:
- growing inequalities at the global scale: what is the role of food, natural resources, rural areas;
- the multidimensionality of inequality and the importance of diversity: what implications for rural sociology;
- diversity in space and rural areas;
- implications for the governance of European States and Institutions.

The Working Group "FertileLinks? Understanding the connections between tourism activities, socioeconomic fabrics and local development in European rural areas" will be held within the  Congress.
Full papers must be submitted until 30th June.
