Rural4KIDS: kid-friendly rural life

Rural4KIDS is a project addressed to primary school kids, which focuses on 4 things to do and more others to be discovered. This things are described and explained through a kid-oriented website and a blog where kids can get informative and educational material related to the rural development, and where contents can be improved thanks to kids interaction and observations. The starting point looks at four concepts considered to be at present the most important challenges in rural areas: water, climate, biodiversity and energy.
Although seemingly abstract, these four concepts are described underling, besides their scientific contents, also their deep relationship with the daily life aspects, with agriculture as well as animal farming. The website also explains how to respect and relate to natural resources in the most appropriate way, with a hint to the European, national and regional rural development policies.
Thanks to engaging graphics choices and to simple and clear contents, the website represents for kids a virtual place where to learn and discuss, while playing, some of the issues affecting the world they live in.
In this step, the pilot project will involve three representative schools within the urban area of Rome (G. Mazzini - 37° Circolo Didattico; G. Ronconi - 3° Circolo Didattico; Istituto comprensivo Borsi Saffi). The project will reach schools located throughout Italy next year.
