Italy - Serbia: new upcoming scenarios for the international cooperation in the agricultural sector

 On November 3 and 4, 2009, a meeting was held between the Serbian delegation represented by the Serbian Ministry of Agricultural Policies, Sasa Dragin, and the Italian Minister of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies. The meeting in question has been organized by the Presidency of Umbrian Region during the "International Cooperation" convention.
The issues dealt with in this meeting are related to a range of initiatives, aiming at strengthening the  good relations of the Italian Republic and the Region of Umbria with The Republic of Serbia, to be taken with a view to Serbia future admission to EU. In particular, Italy and Serbia should work closely as far as strategies and rural development policies are concerned, but even as to the international promotion of their typical products, the agricultural and food certification procedures, the upgrading and the organization of parks and protected areas and, not for last, the fostering of a constant cooperation in the agricultural sector.
The Task Force Cooperation of the Italian Rural Network has taken part to the meeting in question with its own representative, proving to be a crucial point of reference for an exchange of significant experiences and for missions promotions between the two countries. As a result, The Italian Rural Network plays a double role as development promoter and, also, as a connection point between foreign regional and national agricultural policies. This meeting, as a matter of fact, anticipates and fosters the Memorandum of Understanding signature between the Italian Minister of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies and the Serbian Ministry of Agricultural Policies, to be subscribed during the next Bilateral Summit on November, 13 at Palazzo Madama. It will definitely prove to be the strategic point of reference for all the future initiatives.
